The Neadow Family Β· Ortonville, Michigan

Our Story

Mike Neadow had a vision β€” bring the Upper Peninsula to Southeast Michigan. Christina and Mikie are still living it.

The Clearwater Story

The Upper Peninsula,
without the drive.

Clearwater Campground started with a vision. Mike Neadow β€” a land developer who loved Michigan's outdoors β€” looked at this corner of Northern Oakland County and saw something most people would have missed: the potential to give Southeast Michigan families the feeling of the Upper Peninsula without making them drive all day to get there. He cleared the land, shaped the grounds into something park-like and beautiful, and built it into a place that people would genuinely want to come back to.

The campground has been in the Neadow family ever since. Christina and Michaelann (Mikie) Neadow took over operations in 2001 and have spent the years since investing in the property β€” renovating, improving, and above all, maintaining the same spirit Mike originally built it around. Every returning camper is a welcome friend. Every new face is a future regular.

What makes Clearwater different isn't a single amenity β€” it's the sum of a thousand small things. The way the morning light hits the water. The horses in the field beside your site. The fact that Christina and Mikie know your name by the second day. The campfire that goes until midnight because nobody wants to be the first to leave.

We're deliberate about keeping some things old-fashioned. Reservations are made by phone β€” because a real conversation is still the best way to make sure you get exactly the right spot. What we're offering is an escape from daily stress and a place to make memories. That's been the mission since the beginning, and it hasn't changed.

"Wonderful staff. Wonderful place. Quiet and clean. A beautiful lake, and it took this wandering fool in on short notice. My site looked into a wooded field β€” to my left horses played and an American flag waved in the breeze."
